Pre-Ballet/Tap for ages 3 to 5: This
combination class serves as a perfect introduction for our youngest students.
It stresses coordination skills and developmental fitness as it enriches
their lives with a love of the dance at an early age.
Ballet/Tap Combo for ages 5 to 7: Working
on the fundamentals continues to be stressed, with emphasis on steps,
routines and combinations. I preparation for ballet, students do their
beginning barre work as the class progresses.
Classical Ballet for ages 7 and up: Since
all dance technique comes from ballet's classical training and exercises,
we consider it a fundamental building block of your child's dance education.
As it strengthens and tones young bodies, it builds lifetime disciplines,
develops greater concentration and challenges creativity while imparting
a confidence and poise that will be a part of their personalities as they
grow and mature. Pointe work is offered in this class to those students
who have achieved a measurable level of strength and ability through their
ballet technique or training.
Jazz for ages 7 and up: The look is fancy
free, full of rhythm and definitely loose and unrestricted, but the easiness
of this dance from is built on ballet disciplines and techniques even
though the look is less classical and less structured. Classes provide
fun and recreation for all ages.
Tap for ages 7 and up: Moving to these
syncopated rhythms and responding to the clickety-clack of toe taps provides
energy and excitement while it builds outstanding coordination and discipline,
not to mention math skills at the count of every beat!
Modern for ages 8 and up: Interpretive
movement comes alive in these expressive classes. Using the body as the
prime means of communication, this contemporary dance interprets and involves
its characters as no other dance form. A unique opportunity for all dancers
to use their talents in new and creative ways.

Dedicated
to the more serious dancer, Plano Metropolitan Ballet is a
not for profit organization that gives young dancers ages 10
through 18 the opportunity to perform and further
explore
their love of the dance. It inspires and develops these young
people through their annual ballet production, through visiting
guest artists
from nearby ballet companies and by promoting field trips as
a means of enlarging and enhancing ballet appreciation.
Each year the Plano Met stages a major production bringing a familiar
fairy tale to life. The 1997 Sleeping Beauty and 1998 Cinderalla
both sold out to enthusiastic audiences. In 1999, the Plano Met
produced an
original ballet of Anastasia, and in 2000 Peter Pan was also
well received by the community. More recent productions include
Alice in Wonderland
in 2002, The Little Mermaid in 2003 and Snow White in 2004, Cinderalla
in 2005, Beauty & The Beast in 2006, Sleeping Beauty in 2007
and Tinkerbelle in 2008, all of which were completely sold out!!
The Plano Met also hosts the Plano Dance Festival yearly. Proudly exhibiting
the area's best, students from local schools and dance companies perform
by invitation only! Hosting this annual event has been our privilege since
2003.
The Plano Met consists of Gotta Dance students who have demonstrated
their seriousness through dedicated study and have qualified through yearly
auditions. For more information on this fourteen year old tradition, please contact
us.
Jr. Company - Plano Metropolitan Ballet: In
2006 we created the Junior Company division of Plano Metropolitan Ballet.
Developed for dancers ages 8 through 12 with a strong interest in pursuing
ballet, Jr. Company dancers must pass an audition in order to join. In
addition to1 weekly ballet class, they are required to come to class and
rehearsal for company on Fridays from 6:00-7:30.
Performance opportunities include The Plano Dance Festival each year.
